Short answer
If your gateway is reporting normally but one panel — or a handful — shows no data, the microinverter under that panel has stopped checking in. Sometimes that's a real hardware fault. Very often it isn't.
Before assuming the worst: microinverters are powered by the panels above them. After sunset they shut down and report nothing. If you're looking at your app in the evening and seeing blanks, that's the system working as designed.
Step 1 — Check the time of day and the weather
Look at your array view in the middle of a bright day, not at night and not during heavy overcast. Microinverters also wake up in a staggered way in the morning and drop off in the evening, so panels on different roof faces will come and go at different times. That's normal.
Step 2 — Count how many are missing, and where they are
This is the question that tells us what's actually wrong, so it's worth two minutes in the app's array view.

Step 3 — Give it a few days before you worry
A microinverter that misses a reporting window will usually catch up on its own. What matters is the pattern over several days, not a single blank square this afternoon. If the same panel is still missing after three or four sunny days, it's real.
If panels seem to come and go: it's probably "noise"
Enphase microinverters talk to your gateway over your home's existing electrical wiring — that's called power line communication. Other equipment on the same wiring can drown out that signal, and the symptom looks exactly like panels randomly dropping off and coming back.
The usual culprits are things that were added after your solar was installed:
- LED lighting or dimmer switches, especially inexpensive ones
- Battery chargers, power tools on a charger, or a treadmill
- Aquarium or pool equipment
- Certain surge protectors and UPS units
- A new appliance on a nearby circuit

What we'll do about it
Send us a service request with the panel positions that aren't reporting and roughly when it started. From our end we can see your array remotely, confirm what you're seeing, and tell you whether it needs a visit.
If a microinverter has genuinely failed, the part itself is covered by Enphase's product warranty and we handle that claim with them. What varies is the labor to swap it — that's governed by the workmanship warranty in your contract with us. We'll tell you clearly what applies before we schedule anything.
What's covered? Your contract with us sets out your workmanship and roof warranty — what's included and for how long. It's worth pulling up before you call. The equipment itself (panels, microinverters, optimizers, inverters, batteries) carries its own manufacturer warranty, and we handle those claims on your behalf. If you can't find your contract, ask us and we'll help you track it down.
One thing worth knowing: we often bundle a single failed microinverter with other work in your area rather than sending a truck for one panel. If you'd rather not wait, say so and we'll talk about it — but for one panel out of twenty-odd, the production you're losing is usually smaller than people expect.
Please don't open the equipment. Solar systems carry live electricity even when the sun is down and even when your utility power is out. Never remove an inverter or combiner cover, never open a junction box, and never work on the array yourself. And please don't reset breakers connected to the solar system to "see if it helps" — if you think a breaker has tripped, call us first.

How soon will someone come out? When a visit is needed, we're typically scheduling about two weeks out. That's a typical case rather than a promise — how far you are from us, how full the schedule is that month, and whether a part has to come from Enphase or SolarEdge all move it. If something is urgent or unsafe, tell us when you get in touch and we'll treat it differently.
